After 25 years, Statesville Haunted Prison will be closing permanently. This year marks the final year of operation. Statesville was closed in 2020 due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Located at Siegel’s Cottonwood Farm in Lockport, Statesville Haunted Prison is one of the most famous haunted houses in Chicagoland. It began in 1996 as a haunted hayride and has gathered a cult following each Halloween for the past 25 years. It has even been regarded as one of the Top 10 haunted houses in the country.
For its final year, Zombie Army Productions has created a 30-room haunted house experience that is sure to have Statesville going out with a scream. "We love our fans and it’s their support over the years that helped us run this Monster," organizers said in a statement to Fox 32 News.
Statesville Haunted Prison will be operating this year starting October 1st through October 31st. The prison will be open Thursdays and Sundays 7pm to 10pm, Fridays and Saturdays 7 pm to 11 pm. Tickets are available through Statesville’s website.
