Bill Nye, known as the “Science Guy” to nearly every 20-something in America, is heading to Netflix with a brand-new show.

Our favorite science guy will be the star of a new talk show on Netflix, set for debut in spring 2017. Titled “Bill Nye Saves the World,” the show will “explore science and its impact on politics, society and pop culture,” according to a release from Netflix. Each episode will tackle a topic from a scientific point of view and debunk myths and disprove anti-scientific claims.

Nye is most recognized and known for the educational television program “Bill Nye the Science Guy,” which ran for five seasons on PBS from 1993-98. In its 100 episodes, the show was aimed to discuss and explain specific topics in science in such a way for its young target audience to understand and easily retain. With its comedic overtones, it became a very popular aid for teachers over the years, and some still use episodes from the show to help explain certain aspects of science to their students.

Nye stated, “Since the start of the ‘Science Guy’ show, I’ve been on a mission to change the world by getting people everywhere excited about the fundamental ideas in science. With the right science and good writing, we’ll do our best to enlighten and entertain our audience. And, perhaps we’ll change the world a little,” according to CNN.

Nye, now 60 years of age, has a Bachelor’s of Science in mechanical engineering from Cornell University, where he graduated from in 1977. When “Bill Nye the Science Guy” ended, he stayed out of the spotlight for a while but recently reemerged. He also appeared as a contestant on Dancing with the Stars in 2013.

“Bill Nye Saves the World” will be the second series in the talk show genre for Netflix.
