*Sings:* Oh, the weather outside is…still too damn warm! But have no fear, my fellow Christmas-o-holics. Christmas came early this year for us, for the City of Naperville has announced that the beloved holiday tradition of Christkindlmarket is debuting in its city.

Christkindlmarket is a traditional German holiday market where you, family and friends can eat some food (bratwurst, sausages, pretzels, potato pancakes, sauerkraut, cheese, strudel…need I continue?), drink some beverages (Glühwein, Kinderglühwein), shop at unique European vendors and simply enjoy the smell of Christmas in the air. Bonus perk: admission is always free to the market!

Though all the details have yet to be finalized and released, we do know that the event will be held in the heart of Naper Settlement near downtown Naperville and Riverwalk Park. It will be open November 25 through December 24 Thursdays through Sundays. Hours are:

Thursdays: 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.

Fridays & Saturdays: 11 a.m. – 9 p.m.

Sundays: 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.

There will be special operating hours the week of Christmas:

Monday (Dec. 19) through Friday (Dec. 23): 11 a.m. – 9 p.m.

Saturday (Dec. 24): 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.

It has also been announced that the Naperville market will be significantly larger than the Oakbrook location and the Naperville market will occupy nearly 15,000 feet of space. For those of you who travel to all the different markets and collect mugs, yes, this location will feature a special mug design exclusive to Naperville.

Since we are in the era of swiping cards/inserting chips, it’s important to know that many vendors – especially food and drink vendors – do not accept credit cards. Downtown Naperville does have several ATMs, but try to avoid ATM fees and withdraw some cash before heading out!

For more information on the market, call (312) 494-2175 or check out the Naperville Christkindlmarket webpage!
