Richard Arrowsmith, 41, was caught with a staggering amount of child sex abuse images and was spared jail time after telling his judge he wanted to start a family.

Arrowsmith was found to have over 137,000 pictures and 4,336 videos of child abuse after he was arrested in February. He was caught after police received a tip that he downloaded images while he was on his Sky account. Four-hundred videos were found in Category A of the COPINE scale, which is the rating system used in the UK to categorize the severity of images of child sex abuse. Two-hundred-fifty-five videos were placed in category B, and 186 videos and 851 images were placed in Category C. The remainder of the videos and images were left uncategorized.

Arrowsmith admitted he had been downloading images and videos for “four or so years” but never spread any of the files or took any of his own, according to the Derby Telegraph. He faced up to five years of prison.

After pleading guilty to the Derby Crown Court and telling the judge he wanted to start a family, his sentence was reduced to 10 months and suspended for two years. Recorder Martin Butterworth stated “You are 41 years old, with no previous convictions and you pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity. There are three charges against you in relation to the possession of indecent images of children. I am taking into consideration your previous good character, you have a wife who supports you, a steady employment and your hopes to start a family in the near future,” according to Yahoo! News.

Arrowsmith was ordered to pay £250 in costs and complete 160 hours of unpaid work. He was placed under a curfew that does not allow him to leave his home anytime between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m. He was also banned from working with children and had to register as a sex offender.
