President Trump’s press conference on Thursday became known for his comments and treatment of CNN reporter Jim Acosta. The exchange between President Trump and Acosta happened at the press conference where he announced his new nominee for Labor Secretary, Alexander Acosta. The exchange started after President Trump called on the veteran CNN reporter, who asked, “If I may ask, sir, you said earlier that WikiLeaks was revealing information about the Hillary Clinton campaign during the election cycle. You welcomed that at one campaign rally. You said you loved WikiLeaks. At another campaign press conference, you called on the Russians to find the missing 30,000 e-mails. I'm wondering, sir, if you –"
He however was cut off by President Trump when Trump interjected, “She’s actually missing 33,000 emails.” President Trump consistently referenced these missing emails throughout his campaign and it seems that he is returning to his ‘campaign-mode’ after several weeks of intense criticism by domestic and international media. The growing divide between the media and this administration has created worry among the media that the President will start only taking questions from networks that specifically cover his administration.
A sign of the growing disapproval from the American people of the current administration can be seen in the Pew Research (42% approval, 54% disapproval), Gallup (Approval 40%, Disapproval 54%) and Reuters (Approval 46%, 50% disapproval) polls, all which have a majority disapproval of how the administration has conducted business so far. The United States of America is in an unprecedented situation where the administration actively calls reports from the media “fake news” while at the same time reporting fake news themselves. The looming question for now is weather or not President Trump serve his full-term, which is considered unlikely as Vegas bookmakers have recently put the odds of Trump leaving before four years at 11/10, which for reference, when he was inaugurated, they had him at 3/1 to last the full four years.
