Downtown Joliet will soon be welcoming a new live music venue at what once was known as The Tree. Opening this April, The Forge, which will be located at 22 West Cass Street, will feature live music, food and spirits.

During a city council meeting on March 6, one of the owners, Frank Mastalerz, spoke to city officials, stating the newly owned venue will “bring people from outside this area.” Downtown Joliet is currently trying to improve business in the area. By developing incentive plans, city officials and the City Center Partnership hope to bring more traffic downtown.

According to The Herald News, Mastalerz “expects to book 60-80 shows in his first year of business.” The venue will host every genre of music and will be open all nights of the week. Guests will be able to enjoy general admission to the main floor, as well as limited reserved seating in the balcony.

Although there have been problems in the past among guests of the venue, the new management will not book events that may be of concern. Mastalerz, who has been booking and producing shows for over 20 years, is confident in his abilities to bring something valuable to the area.

Owners of The Forge have already been busy promoting on Facebook. With a following of over 1,500 people on Facebook, many people are thrilled for the re-opening of the city's music venue. Upcoming events include Adelitas Way on April 13, Night Train (Guns N Roses cover band) on April 15, and In Flames on May 18.
