CBS Announces Celebrity Big Brother Air Date

CBS announced Friday, December 1 that the U.S. edition of Celebrity Big Brother will be premiering on Wednesday, February 7 from 8-9 p.m. ET/PT.

While no casting announcements have been made, here’s what we do know:

  • The show will have a concentrated run, 13 episodes with 4 of them being 2 hours long. The season finale will air on Sunday, February 25.

  • Julie Chen will be back as host.

  • Though the season will only last for two-and-a-half weeks, the show will still feature the Head of Household and Power of Veto Competitions, as well as, Live Evictions.

  • It will be competing alongside this year’s 2018 Winter Olympics that will premiere on Friday, February 9, in PyeongChang, South Korea.

The news of a celebrity edition of Big Brother was revealed on September 7, 2017.

"Now, you expect us to be back next summer, and we will," Chen told viewers during the September live eviction episode.

"But this winter, for the first time ever, the unexpected is coming: Celebrity Big Brother. That's right, a house full of celebrities locked up behind these doors. Can you imagine it? You'll learn all about it, soon enough."

Among this news, Julie Chen told The Hollywood Reporter in September, that her husband, CBS President Les Moonves, informed her she would be taking a cut in her salary to make this season happen:

"He said, 'You tell your attorney [Chen’s brother-in-law, Jon Moonves] this is not a game we're playing. Everyone's taking a haircut. This is the only way it will make sense financially. You shouldn't be expected to be paid as if it's a full series. It's a condensed version.'"

A celebrity edition of the show already airs in the U.K. It aired its 20th series (season) in August.
