Music at Moser Events for Fall 2019

As the school year begins, so do the events for the Music and Performing Arts Department. As of August 21, 2019, the department released the event dates for upcoming artists, concerts and theater performances. Each event showcases different genres of music as well as the talents of University of St. Francis (USF) students and faculty. According to www.stfrancis.edu, “The University of St. Francis Department of Music and Performing Arts is proud to offer exciting music and theater performances to the Joliet and Will County communities.”

According to www.stfrancis.edu, the event dates are as follows:

September 15, 2019 at 3:00 p.m.: In Recital: Ricardo Parra (folk guitar/voice)

Ricardo Perra is a Chilean singer-songwriter. Perra will perform music ranging from bassa nova classics to his own music. This event will be held in the Sexton Auditorium.

September 28, 2019 at 7:30 p.m.: 3rd Annual Music Collage Concert

According to www.stfrancis.edu, attendees can experience music performed in ‘surround sound’ in a celebration of music and music-making. The event will also have a silent auction to help support the growth of the Music Department. This event will be held in the Sexton Auditorium.

October 25, 2019 at 7:30 p.m.: enhakē (chamber ensemble)

The distinctive and rhythmic performances of enhakē have been praised as being “of the highest caliber” (Fanfare), “gorgeous” (Gramophone) and exciting, according to www.bbc.com. Combining piano, clarinet, violin and cello, enhakē brings a new and fresh perspective to music from many periods and styles both on stage and in their many recordings. This event will be held in the Sexton Auditorium.

November 8-9, 2019 at 7:30 p.m. and November 10, 2019 at 3:00 p.m.: Saints on Stage present: George Bateson’s “Rehearsal for Death”

Find out what happens in this play as the Saints on Stage reveal who is behind the crime in our version of “Rehearsal for Death.” The play is directed by USF’s Director of Theatre, Daina Giesler. This event will be held in the Turk Theatre. For $25, bundle your ticket for Saturday’s performance with a “classic American meal” served one hour before the performance. Dinner tickets must be reserved by Sunday, November 3rd. Tickets without the meal are also available for Saturday’s performance

November 15, 2019 at 7:30 p.m.: The Swinging Saints Swing in the Holidays

USF’s vocal jazz ensemble, the Swinging Saints, present their very first holiday program. A variety of winter classics and, more specifically, Christmas classics will be performed by USF students. Conducted by Paul Laprade, Assistant Professor and Chair of the Music & Performing Arts department at USF, this event will be held in the San Damiano.

November 24-25, 2019 at 3:00 p.m.: Joliet Symphony Orchestra – “A Classic Concert”

The Joliet Symphony Orchestra (JSO) will be performing a concert of classics from the symphony repertoire. Classics will include familiar pieces along with new ones. Flautist Noelle Klima, winner of the JSO Concerto Competition, will be featured at the performance. This exciting concert will be conducted by Dr. Dianna Fiore, director of orchestra at USF. This event will be held in the Sexton Auditorium.

December 7, 2019 at 7:30 p.m.: Christmas at the Motherhouse, “One Child – A Centennial Concert of Premieres”

The University of St. Francis begins the celebration of its 100th year with a concert of premieres. USF’s Claritas Master Chorale, Schola Cantorum, and Swinging Saints will be joining forces to sing about the birth of Jesus, a moment that changed the world. This event will be held in the St. Joseph Chapel in Motherhouse.

Most, if not all events will require tickets. According to www.stfrancis.edu, tickets will be $10 for adult and $7 for senior citizens (65+), alumni and non-USF students.
