New Educational Group Series on Tuesday Nights

November 8, 2019

The USF Office of Institutional Diversity & Guardian Angel Community Services is offering a Holistic Healing Educational Group Series that is held every Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the USF Cultural Center. This program has an eight-week program and at each session, different topics will be discussed. A few of these topics include the concept of trauma, establishing boundaries and managing relationships. The main goal of this program is to help participants overcome past traumas and to guide them in the right direction to live a healthy and happy life.

According to www.webmd.com, holistic medicine is a form of healing that considers the whole person—body, mind, spirit and emotions—in the quest of optimal health and wellness. Each of these health categories are equally important. Without a stable mental health, one’s physical health can also be affected. Thus, this program is beneficial because most college students struggle with finding that healthy balance in their lives. It allows them to see that they are not the only ones struggling with managing difficult emotions. With this realization, students can learn to grow in a healthy way with the support offered in these sessions.

Tuesday, November 5 will be when the Holistic Healing group will have its next meeting. During this meeting, the topics covered will be establishing healthy relationships and managing unhealthy ones. All topics discussed throughout the weeks, like the one mentioned, are all situations college students will most likely encounter throughout their lives. Thus, this group is truly beneficial for anyone. It is also important to know that everything that is mentioned in the group discussion is confidential. This event is not just group therapy; it is a helpful session that educates all participants on healthy ways to manage the stresses and difficulties that life presents. We all need help with some aspect of our life. It is through the guided group discussions that participants realize that it is okay to ask for help. Understanding this idea will lead students to a better state in body, mind, spirit, and emotions. All are welcome to attend!
